    Notes:

[[Roy was the first born son, but only beat his twin brother Troy by a few minutes . He learned a lot about farming during his childhood, working at his father's side. He served in the U.S.Navy during the latter part of World War II and was honorably discharged in 1943. In 1951, Roy married Frances Verlita Glass and spent the rest of his life as her devoted husband, fathering five children and adopting one more. (kids:Cindy,Malcolm,Martin, Jeff, Alice and Lisa) He also had a daughter and a son from a previous marriage. (Sharon and R. Max ) Roy was re -united with R. Max and his family in 1992 and cherished the time he spent with his first born son. Roy was employed by Natural Gas Pipeline Company (NGPL ) from 1943 to1985 (42years). The company transferred him to Malvern, AR around 1951 . He was never afraid of hard work and it was reflected in his weather-beaten skin and strong rough hands. His children are proud of the work ethic he passed on to them. In the 1950s and1960s, he loved bowling. He was very active in bowling leagues and carried an impressive average. Everyone said he should have turned pro, but he didn't want to go on tour and leave Frances and the kids behind. During the thirty years that he lived in Malvern, Roy was highly regarded, and a respected member of the community. He was on a first name basis with most of the area's noted citizens. He loved coaching his three sons' baseball teams and took an active part in their leagues. In 1982, NGPL transferred him , his wife and their adopted daughter Lisa to Evanston, Wyoming They lived there until his retirement in February, 1985, when they moved to Texas to be near most of their
children and grandchildren. Roy and his twin brother, Troy, were diagnosed with
diabetes within weeks of each other in 1997. Troy was lost to complications from
diabetes and passed on in December of 2001. Roy was very saddened by his loss.
On September 11, 2001 Roy suffered a serious stroke, leaving him paralyzed on one side and unable to speak. He recovered amazingly quickly and regained about 80% of his abilities withina couple of months. Roy's health seemed to continue to improve, but on June 24, 2002, he suffered a heart failure brought on by his other health problems. He died on June 25,2002 and was buried in Conroe, Texas He was 79 years old. Many people, some even from his distant past, came from all parts of the country to pay their last respects at his funeral. He will be missed by all who knew him.
