Born in Bristol on November 7, 1932, to the late Lawrence and Dorothy (Mardin) Winters, she was the beloved wife of John F. Hoar, who predeceased her in 2004. Doreen is survived by three cherished daughters: Karen Lee and her husband (Gilbert) Getz of Ft. Myers, FL, Laurie Tursi of South Windsor, and Doreen and her husband (Michael) Friel of Tampa, FL; she is also survived by six grandchildren: Eric Getz of Beaumont, TX; Cheryl Getz of Pittsfield, MA; Wayne Jr. and Matthew Tursi of South Windsor; Michael Friel of Arlington, VA; and Jennifer Friel of Los Angeles, CA; as well as four great-grandchildren: Dillon Evan and Evan Andrew Getz of Beaumont; and Madalyn Ella Nail and Rylynn Christine Lamb of Pittsfield. Doreen was a graduate of Mt. St. Joseph Academy in West Hartford and Bay Path College of Longmeadow, MA. After her retirement from CIGNA Corporation in 1990, Doreen enjoyed spending time with her husband and family. In her final years, Doreen was a devoted volunteer in the Punta Gorda area, where she enjoyed donating her time to her favorite charitable organization, St. Vincent de Paul Society. Stanley) Cummings of Longmeadow, MA and Ann (Stephen Jr.) O'Brien of Springfield, MA; and his sister-in-law, Lucille B. Hoar of Lakeland, Florida He was predeceased by his parents, Atty. Ignatius M. and Margaret (O'Brien) Hoar of Springfield, MA; and his brother, Robert I. Hoar, of Upper Montclair, New Jersey He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. John graduated from Cathedral High School (Springfield, MA) and attended St. Michael's College (Burlington, VT) before graduating from Boston University in 1952. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy after serving in the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion, Post 96. After a 36-year career in the insurance industry, John retired in 1990 as a Vice President from Sedgwick-James, an insurance brokerage agency. He was married to the former Mae MacEntee at Ellenville on July 4, 1934 Mr. Hoar was employed as a driver for Marvin Millwork, Inc., Ellenville. He was a member of Ellenville Reformed Church and a life member of the Kimball Hose Company No. 1 of Ellenville., Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Carl and Todd Hoar, both at home; three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Iris) Slater of Kerhonkson; Mrs. Joseph (Ruth Ann) Newman of Napanooh, and Mrs. Wilton (Margaret) Sheley of Ellenville; also seven grandchildren; two brothers, Judson of Kingston and Harrison Hoar of Ellenville; three sisters, Mrs. George Garland and Mrs. John Keester, both of Tenafly, N. J., and Mrs. Robert Michel of Napanoch; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Loucks Funeral Home Inc., 79 North Main Street, Ellenville, Friday at 2 p. m. The Rev. George H. Winn, pastor of Ellenville Reformed Church will officiate. Burial will be in Fantinekill Cemetery, Ellenville.
