      Brenda Hoar Blake was the daughter of Joseph E. and Esther Donnelly Hoar. Her maiden name was misspelled in her obituary in yesterday's Eagle.
      PITTSFIELD -- Brenda Dorothea Blake, 64, of 17 Kenwood St., died Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at home.
      Born in Pittsfield on March 8, 1943, daughter of Joseph E. and Esther Donnelly Hoard, she was a 1960 graduate of St. Joseph Central High School. She earned an associate's degree in dental hygiene from Hudson Valley Community College in 1964. She was a lifelong resident of Pittsfield.
      Mrs. Blake retired from Pittsfield Public Schools as secretary with 25 years of service. She had also been employed by Pittsfield Elementary Schools, administering the fluoride program known as the "swish and spit" program. Throughout her career, she had been employed by various area dental practices.
      She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and enjoyed traveling, the beach, gardening and reading.
      She and her husband, James W. Blake were married Oct. 12, 1964, in Sacred Heart Church.
      Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Shannon M. Steinman of Pittsfield and Megan M. Brandall of Billerica; two sons, Joseph E. Blake of Birmingham, Mich., and Matthew J. Blake of Indianapolis; a sister, Patricia Ostaski of Swampscott; and seven grandchildren.
      FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Brenda Dorothea Blake, who died Tuesday, April 17, 2007, will be held Saturday at 10:15 a.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor. Burial will follow at Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. At Brenda's request, In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be made to Sacred Heart Church or the Pittsfield Boys' and Girls' Club in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield. Brenda will be lovingly missed by her sister-in-law, Constance Robinson; her brother-in-law, Dr. William Ostaski; her daughter-in-law, Laura Blake; her sons-in-law, Brett Steinman and Timothy Brandall; and her grandchildren, for whom she cheered at various events, Molly Blake, Jacob Brandall and Keelan, Scott, Peyton, Brett Jr. and London Steinman; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and godchildren.
