      He served in WW1 #1262246, enlisting on April 12, 1916 in Toronto. He served in France with the CDSC, as a Private.
      Height 5' 10 ?a", fresh complexion, eyes: grey, dark brown hair, Methodist, farmer, birthmark on left thigh, single
      He was discharged on July 12, 1919 in Toronto, as he served with the army of occupation.
      They lived in Newcastle. He was known as "E. C." and was quite active in Community affairs.
      He served on the School Board as trustee --according to the Canadian Statesman newspaper of Jan 9, 1930 p. 8
      He was a member of the Masonic Order (worshipful Brother in 1930)
      He was elected as Councilor for the town of Newcastle --according to the C.S. newspaper of Jan 4, 1934, p. 8
      Edwin was a mechanic, and operated the "Newcastle Garage"
      They are buried in the Bowmanville Cemetery (Section D) They had 3 children: Harold, Frank, & Ted
      --all 3 boys were listed in the Jan 25, 1934 issue of the Canadian Statesman, for having 100 % attendance at the Newcastle United Church Sunday School class, at a young worshippers' recognition service
