      GRAND LAKE STREAM - Laura Barbara (Hoar) Wheaton died suddenly Jan. 15, 2013, at her winter residence, Sunbury Village, Bangor. She was born Dec. 9, 1928, in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, daughter of Paul B. and Edith M. (Brown) Hoar.
      She graduated from Husson College in 1950 with a bachelor's degree in education and promptly married noted canoe builder Kenneth Wheaton. Together they raised a family and carried on the family business of the Pine Tree Store, Grand Lake Stream. Laura Barbara had a lifelong love of music and nature.
      Laura Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth, in 2003. She is survived by her son, Chris Wheaton and wife, Lindsay, of Grand Lake Stream; daughter, Susan and husband, Mac, of Lexington; grandchildren, Neal, Ali, Chad and Kenny; and great-grandchildren, Sebastian and Wesley.
      A memorial service will be held in Grand Lake Stream in the spring. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.maysfuneralhome.com.
