His wife Marriam was evidently a widow with his two daughters by a previous marriage. Richard is not named in surviving manor court records of his father's deeds, but his parentage is indicated by his leasehold of land formerly held by Thomas Hore from the Abbey. His name is not on the 1569 muster rolls for militia duty, which may be taken as an indication that he was then at least sixty years old. A Consistory Court deposition by his son Roger shows that by 1536 Richard was living in Musbury, where he held leases from the Drake family of Ashe, a branch of the Drakes of Wiscombe, Southleigh, from whence came the immigrant John Drake of Dorchester and Taunton, MA and later Windsor, Connecticut Richard Hore in his will dated 10 December 1569 and proved by his son George 11 February 1569/1570 named his wife Marrian and two daughters-in-law [stepdaughters] Alice Whicker and Margaarete Laveridge, probably Marriam's daughters by a previous marriage. He named his own children Henry, Roger, George and Tomsen, and mentioned the lease of the abbey grounds of Newenham [previously held by Thomas Hore], which he left to grandson Priamus Hore. He named as overseers Henry Hore and Roger Hore. Witnesses were John Thomose, John Moore, and Henry Hore, and there is a statement at the end that the will was "written by me, Augustine Endicott".
