      Charles Walker Rites Tuesday. Charles Walker, 76, of Levering, died yesterday at the Emmet County Medical Care Facility, in Harbor Springs. Services will be held in the Victory Baptist Church, in Levering, Tuesday at 2 p.m. Rev. Larry Niswonger will officiate and interment will be in Carp Lake Cemetery. He was born in Levering January 9, 1899 and attended schools in Levering and Pellston. He also graduated from Ferris Institute, in Big Rapids. He served in World War I with the U.S. Navy. On Mar. 31, 1930 he married Mildred Schmalzried and the couple resided in Levering. Mr. Walker was employed in the hardware and general store J.J. Walker and Sons, with his father for many years until his father died. He then operated the store himself for many years. He served on the Levering school board for many years and was justice of Peace for Levering. Mr. Walker was a life member of the Odd Fellows and the Masonic Lodge, in Pellston. He was a former member of the American Legion. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mr. Raymond (Ann) Bodzick, of Harbor Springs and Mrs. Roy (Carol) Alexander, of Carp Lake and six grandchildren. The body is at the Stone Funeral Home where friends may call beginning this evening at 7 p.m.
