Obituary:
John W. Russell Jr. PRINCE FREDERICK ? John Waters Russell Jr., 83, a retired General Electric company employee of the Lamp Division, died November 26, 2008 of pulmonary fibrosis at Calvert Memorial Hospital.
He was the son of the late Walters and Naomi Russell. Mrs. Russell was a teacher in Kent County public schools for many years.
Mr. Russell resided at the Asbury Retirement Center in Solomons, Md. He was always thankful for his Eastern Shore roots and his formative years growing up in Chestertown.
He was a graduate of Washington College and spent his working years in Baltimore
Washington D.C., and Richmond, Va. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, the former Flora Mae Barrett of Appeal Md.; twin daughters Doris Horr of Millersville, Md. and Joan Slate of Danbury, N.C.; son J. Arthur Russell of Charlottesville, Va.; sisters Charlotte Russell McCalley of Riverside, Calif. and Naomi Russell Taylor of Vincennes, Ind.; and three grandchildren.
Mr. Russell's remains were donated to the Anatomy Board of Maryland in Baltimore.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at St. Paul's Methodist Church, Lusby, Md. on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 1332 N. Halstead St., Suite 201, Chicago, IL 60642-2642.
