He married Caroline Russell in 1872 in Boston, Mass. They had five children and he died on 12/31/1883 in Chelsea, Mass. of pneumonia. Joseph Gardner born 1810 in England, son of Joseph Gardner Sr., father & son arriving in Canada about 1818. (no info on Mom), Joseph's wife Mary was born in France 1810. She had a sister Marie Laure Guille (or White) who married J. Baptiste Benoit.
