He attended school there until he removed to New Haven, where he went to the Russell Military School, and later to Yale College, from which he graduated in 1879. After his graduation he went into the firm of Handy & Co., conveyancers, in Chicago, where her remained until 1901, when the business was sold out. He then came to Ogdensburg, where he has lived since, retired from business. In politics he is a Democrat, and in religion an Episcopalian. He is a member of Oriental Lodge, No 33, Free and Accepted Masons, Chicago; Lafayette Chapter No. 2, Royal Arch Masons, Chicago; Chevalier Bayard Commandery, No. 69, Knights Templar, Chicago; Media Temple, Oriental Consistory, Chicago, and is a thirty-second degree Mason. He is also a member of the Century Club of Ogdensburg. He married, June 11, 1882, Bessie, daughter of Charles and Mary (Peck) Brown, of Chicago. They have no children.
