Deceased Name: Robert C. Lamay
Robert C. Lamay, 78, of 42 East St., died Sunday at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield. He was a professional engineer at the former Worthington Pump (now Atlas Copco) of Holyoke, from 1938 until 1983. Born in Holyoke, he was educated in schools there and moved here in 1947. He was a communicant of St. Theresa's Church. He was a home volunteer and treasurer of TRIAD and a volunteer of the Adopt a Light Program. He was an Army veteran of World War II with the rank of technical sergeant, serving in Northern France and the Rhineland. While in the service, he received the Purple Heart, the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory Medal, and the Bronze Star Medal. He was a member of the American Legion Post 462 and the Holyoke Elks. He leaves his wife of 52 years, the former Janet Huggins; two daughters, Linda Lamay Stawasz of Holyoke and Susan Lamay Hoar of Easthampton; and four grandsons. The funeral will be Tuesday morning at the Ryder Funeral Home and in the church, with burial in St. Rose Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday afternoon and evening.
