Obituary:
Virginia "Ginny" Hoar, 84, of St. Johnsbury, died Monday afternoon Jan. 14, 2013 at Northeastern VT Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury, with her family by her side.
She was born Jan. 25, 1928 in Hartland, Maine, the daughter of Elwood and Beatrice (Tracy) Green. She was a graduate of Tilton-Northfield High School in New Hampshire.
Ginny was known as the Welcome Wagon Hostess who met and welcomed newcomers, newborns and engaged women to the St. Johnsbury area. She was a member of the St. Johnsbury Women's club and South Congregational Church. Every Saturday she enjoyed playing duplicate bridge in Lyndonville.
Survivors include her three children, Brenda Kimball Newbegin and husband David of Essex, Conn., Robert Kimball and his companion Kimberly Foran of Plainfield, and Ray Walker and his companion Tito Hernandez of Raleigh, N.C.; three grandchildren, Heather, Robin and Rebecca; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Green and wife Ellie of Hampden, Mass. and Richard Green and wife Mary of Calais, Maine; a sister, Judy King of Skowhegan, Maine; nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by her parents; her husband Richard Hoar; and her sister, Suzanne Adams.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon Jan. 19, at 3 p.m. at the Sayles Funeral Home with family friend Mr. John Sleeper officiating. Spring burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in St. Johnsbury. There will be no visiting hours.
