Reason I'm e-mailing ... I found a record at Sprague Town Hall (STH) in Sprague, CT that will interest you:
Preserve Pierce as recorded on Pg. 1 of STH Vol.: Ledger: Births, 1861-1882; Deaths, 1861-1879; Marriages, 1861-1906 died on 26-Oct-1861, and was survived by his wife!

"Cause of death" was unknown, as well as, his parents and burial place. What's interesting is that his age was listed as 67 and birth place as Middlebury, MA. This seems to align well with the Preserved Pierce on RootsWeb.com which reports his birth as 14-Mar-1794 in Middleboro, MA.

If I ever locate Mrs. Pierce's death record in Eastern CT, I'll let you know. Sincerely, Larry Pothier
