    Stuart Edward Garrett 45, formerly of Worthville, Ky., died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at his parents' home in Fredericksburg.
    Stuart was born on June 23, 1963, in Astoria, Ore. He was the beloved adopted son of Eric and Linda Garrett. He attended Osbourn Park and Gar-Field high schools in Prince William County. He was involved with the building trades program at Gar-Field, leading to a career in the construction industry.
    Stuart's Tlingit (native Alaskan) heritage led him to a love of life. He spent many years traveling throughout the United States visiting family and friends. Stuart was a loving and caring person who made friends wherever he went.
    Besides his parents, Stuart is survived by his maternal grandmother, Marie Bair of Fredericksburg; his brother, William Garrett of Savannah, Ga.; and his sisters, Shirley and Martha Garrett, and Kelly Leva, all of the home, and Carmen Garrett of Fredericksburg. He also is survived by his biological family including sisters Toni Taylor of Toledo, Wash., Ernestine Drake of Woodbridge, Virginia Campbell and her husband, Ron, of Astoria, Ore., Colleen Douglas and her husband, Steve, of Tumwater, Wash., and Denise McKinnon of North Bend, Wash.; many nieces and nephew and other relatives; a childhood friend, Christopher Sisson, of Atlanta; and his wife, Nancy Roysden, of Florence Ky.
    Stuart is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Harry Bair; his paternal grandparents, Calvin and Jeanne Garrett, his biological parents, Eugene and Virginia Hoar; his sister, Sharon Walker; and brothers Vincent Hensey, Donald and Walter McKinnon.
    A celebration of life will be held at his parent's home at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7.
    In memory of Stuart, the family requests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of donations to Mary Washington Hospice, 5012 Southpoint Parkway, Fredericksburg, Va. 22407.
