Obituary:
Daniel R. Hart, former Butte resident, succumbed to his third battle with cancer, surrounded by his family, on July 30, 2011, in Garden City, Idaho.
Dan was born Dec. 4, 1960, to Darlene J. (Hoar) Hart and the late Thomas R. Hart in Butte. He attended Monroe and Webster-Garfield elementary schools, East and West junior high schools, and graduated from Butte High School in 1979.
He was a "Butte boy, born and raised" and was able to express his talents in many ways. Dan's attraction to music began at the very young age of four and became one of his passions in life. His musical gift allowed him to become an extremely accomplished musician on numerous instruments, while playing
professionally in Butte as well as Salt Lake City and Boise, Idaho. Dan continued to share his love of music by writing, composing and performing many of his own creations for everyone to enjoy.
Dan also had a love for the open road of which he thoroughly embraced while riding his motor-cycles. Dan often referred to this pleasure as his "therapy" and considered this adventure his very own "heaven on earth." Dan also had a unique knack for remembering certain quotes from favorite TV shows and movies and was often victorious against his brothers in a friendly competition of who said what.
Always eager to pursue his dreams further, Dan was also actively studying and preparing to obtain his pilot's license, but unfortunately was unable to continue as his health prevented this dream from becoming reality.
Dan's exceptional electronic aptitude was his bread and butter; he could make a ham radio out of a toaster. Dan left Butte in 1982, and became an all-night disc jockey in Bountiful, Utah, until he transitioned into his
current profession as field service engineer. Dan was recognized and respected professionally while working for National Semiconductor in Salt Lake, and Zilog and DNS Screen, both located in Boise.
Solitude and relaxation were joys that he relished tremendously while camping or in the company of his wife, Bobbi, and their beloved pets/companions, Emer and Pickles. Dan would warm your heart with a generous smile and wonderful sense of humor as it was often accompanied with a dash of dry wit and a sprinkle of sarcasm.
"Dan is a star in the face of the sky."
Dan was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, Russell S. and Lillian Hoar; and uncles, Russell E. Hoar and William Hart.
Dan is survived and will forever be loved and missed by his wife, Bobbi Hart; stepdaughter, Sunni Pacific; loving mother, Darlene Hart, Butte; brothers, Michael Hart, Port Orchard, Wash., and Thomas (Peggie) Hart, Butte; sister, Lori (Dave) Cashell, Butte; mother-in-law, Patsy Groves, Portland, Ore.; sister-in-law, Suzanne (Hans) Dittrich, Emmett, Idaho; aunt, Emily Wilson, Tucson, Ariz.; nephews and nieces, Thomas J. (Crystal) Hart, Jamie Hart (Travis) Slivka, Breanne and Brody Hart, Kacee, Karlee, Chelbe and
Coby Cashell; and great-nephews and -nieces, Cody and Sam Slivka, and Sage, Tyler and Jade Hart.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, at Duggan Dolan Mortuary.
Memorials or donations in Dan's memory may be given to the Shriners Hospital, American Cancer Society, a local hospice, or a charity of the donor's choice.
