Dorith (Horr) Crandall, 86, of Ashaway, R. I., died on January 1, 1992, at the Westerly (R. I.) Hospital. She was born in Sabbatus, Maine, on September 27, 1905, the daughter of the late Ernest and Lilla (Golder) Horr. Dorith, who was a school teacher, graduated from Bates College, Lewiston, Maine, in 1927. She taught at Traip Academy in Kittery, Maine, and also in the Hopkinton (R. I.) school system for more than 20 years. She married Clarence Crandall in 1932 in the Bates College Chapel. Dorith was an active member of the First Seventh Day Baptist Church of Hopkinton, Ashaway, R. I., for 60 years, serving as a Sabbath School and Vacation Bible School teacher, and as Sabbath School superintendent. She also served on the Missionary Board of the church and on the board of the denomination's Missionary Society. She was a member of the National Educational Association and the Women's Christian Temperance Union. Besides her husband, Clarence, survivors include two daughters, Maitland Fothergill of Cumberland, R. I., and Gwendolyn Bowyer of Hopkinton; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held on January 4, 1992, in the First SDB Church of Hopkinton.
