Adaline Powers, 72, died July 31, 1916, at the home of her nephew, George Powers, Main street, Athol, where she was staying for a few days. Her home was in an upstairs apartment in the house of her son on Drury avenue. Mrs. Powers was taken suddenly sick and only lived a short time. She was a daughter of Rev. Nelson B. and Lucy K. (Glazier) Jones of Prescott. She was born November 24, 1843, in New Salem, Mass. On June 13, 1867, she married Benjamin Franklin Coolidge of New Salem, the son of Napoleon and Susan (Pierce) Coolidge. They lived in New Salem until the spring of 1871. When their son was three months old they moved to Orange and lived on South Main street and lived there until the death of Mr. Coolidge, August 24, 1876. In 1878 she married Charles Lafayette Powers of Prescott, a son of Charles and Nancy (Fish) Powers. They lived for a time in Athol, later moving to Prescott where they lived with Mrs. Powers' parents. Mrs. Powers taught school for several years in Prescott. In 1895 she moved to Athol where she made her home until she died. She leaves, besides her son, two grandchildren, Franklin Pierce and Ellen Adeline Coolidge and a sister, Adelaide Aldrich of Attleboro, and a brother. Rev. Nelson B. Jones, Jr., Hingham, Mass. The funeral was held at the home of her son, Harry L. Coolidge, 134 Drury avenue, Athol. Burial was in Mountain View cemetery. North Prescott, Mass.
