  [[Her father's obituary: Dr. Dale Hesser died of a Parkinson's related illness on February 28 at his residence at Sunrise Assisted Living in Fairfax, Virginia. He was buried at National Memorial Park in Falls Church, VA on March 3, 2005. He was 83. Dale was the beloved husband of Naomi Hesser, loving father of Fawn Horr and Tabra Tunoa (formerly Sandra Hesser). He was also survived by three grand- children, Tangi Tunoa, Bryan Horr, Taryn Horr, one great-grandson Tangi Tunoa, Jr, and one sister, June Rose Wilson. Dale Hesser was born in Glencoe, Oklahoma on October 21, 1921. He graduated from Oklahoma State University with his master's degree and received a Ph.D. from The University of Kansas in 1957. He was a college professor at Harding Christian College in Searcy, Arkansas, York Christian College in York, Nebraska and Abilene Christian College in Abilene, Texas. Dale was a university professor of American Literature at Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas from 1967 to 1991. He became known as a Black and Jewish Literature expert by his colleagues and students. Dale's favorite poets were Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson. He moved to Fairfax, Virginia with his wife, Naomi, in 1999. Dale's family love and miss him very much. He was a wonderful husband, father and friend. His vision, influence and love for his family will never be forgotten. He will remain in our hearts forever.
