Injury To Eye Proves Fatal To Fred L. Winslow Fred L. Winslow passed away early Tuesday morning at his home four miles southwest of Ovid. Death was caused by a cancer resulting from an injury to an eye suffered last winter. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the Houghton Funeral Home. The Rev. M. P. Karr of Laingsburg, will officiate and burial will be made in the Laingsburg cemetery.
Fred L. Winslow was born at DeWitt, Michigan, November 26, 1883 and passed away August 15, 1939, at the age of 55 years, 8 months and 19 days. On Feb. 5, 1908 he was united in marriage to Miss Ethel Ballard. To this union were born six children, two preceding him in death. He had been a resident of this vicinity for the past ten years, moving here from Lansing. He was a member of the Grace M. E. Church of Ovid. He leaves to mourn his passing, the widow, Ethel; two sons, Donald, at home, and Harold of Grand Ledge; two daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Smith of Okemos, and Donna at home; three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Cook and Mrs. Ada Brown of Lansing, and Mrs. Della Shaffer of Nashville, Mich.; one grandchild; many nieces and nephews and many friends.
