  [[ Obituary: Flint Journal, The (MI) - December 31, 2006 HOARD, Gertrude M. (Vannest) - Of Davison, age 91, passed away December 29, 2006 at home. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Monday, January 1, 2007 at Davison Free Methodist Church, 502 Church St. Davison, Pastor Brad Button officiating. Burial will be in Davison Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-7 PM Sunday, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 E. Davison Rd., Davison and on Monday, at the church, one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the International Child Care Ministries through Davison Free Methodist Church. Gertrude was born in Chinook, MT on April 27, 1915, daughter of Robert Roy and Clara Vella (Meredith) Thurlow. Gertrude was a member of Davison Free Methodist Church. Gertrude is survived by son, James (Marvelle) Vannest; daughters, Clara Jean (James) Haley, Marjorie (Cal) Churchill, Eleanor (Jerry) Crothers, Dorothy (Samuel) Younce and Rilla (William) Crothers; sons, John (Janet) Vannest and Rodney (Jean) Vannest; 25 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; sister, Marjorie Nell Burroughs, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husbands, John Vannest and Richard Hoard; grandchildren, Melvin and Jonathan, and brothers, Robert, Raymond, and Ward Thurlow.
