Merritt N. Horr, 96, died February 25, 1937 at his home in Spencer, Mass. Mr. Horr was born in Prescott, the oldest son of Nelson and Laura (Lombard) Horr. His early life was spent there and at North Dana. He attended New Salem Academy in 1862-63. In 1881 he married Miss Mary Reed of Warren, and Spencer has been their home for 56 years. While a young man Mr. Horr learned the carpenter's trade, and later owned a lumber
yard and carried on a successful business as a contractor and builder in Spencer. Mr. Horr's favorite recreation was music. He spent many happy hours with his violin, organ and piano. He sang in the Congregational church in Spencer for many years and
was at one time a member of the Spencer band. Besides his widow he leaves three daughters, Mrs. Harry Stetson of Adams, Mrs. Francis Spooner of Spencer and Mrs. Howard Hathaway of Plainfield, also several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
