RALEIGH, N.C.? Esther V. Osborne Casey, 99, formerly of Bath, NY, died at the Sun Rise Assisted Living at North Hills in Raleigh, NC, July 12, 2011 where she was a resident since 2003.
Esther was born to Floyd & Anna Rose Vogt Osborne in Corning, NY, on April 7, 1912. As a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Bath, she sang in the choir and participated in many other church activities. Esther worked at the Wire Hood Factory in Hammondsport, W. T. Grants in Bath, the Bonady Wine & Liquor Store in Bath and for the Steuben County Election Board.
Esther is pre-deceased by her husband, Forest Clinton Casey, and is survived by her son and family, Brian Forest and Gretchen Van Gelder Casey of Raleigh, NC., granddaughters and their spouses: Greta McAlpin and Rodolfo Sancho of Cartago, Costa Rica; Martha and Eddie Johnson of Greenville, NC, Sarah and Dan Glaser of Raleigh, NC. and great-grandchildren, Sebasti?an and Nicolas Sancho, Bryant Jones, Lillian and Alison Glaser.
Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Martha Osborne Smith of Canandaigua, NY; Dorothy Speciale of Painted Post, NY; John Speciale of St. Louis, MO, Paula Osborne Hanlon of Lutz, FL, Doug Osborne of Hammondsport, NY, Sharon Horr Dixon of Dansville, NY, as well as all of her many great and great-great nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law Anna Depew Osborne of Pulteney.
Esther's brothers Earl L. and Paul W. Osborne, sisters E. Frieda Osborne Speciale, Hazel I. Osborne and Onnalee L. Osborne Horr Smith, nephew Jeff Horr and niece Sharleen Horr Hartman preceded her death.
Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Wake County Foundation, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 (HospiceofWake.org) or St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Bath, NY. A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 3rd at 11:00 am at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Hammondsport, NY. A luncheon will follow at 12 Noon at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Bath. All are welcome to attend.
