      Deceased Name: Prather Oral Mellard
      ALICE, Texas - Prather Oral Mellard, 83, passed away August 17, 2004 in an Alice nursing home. He was born March 12, 1921 in Belfast, Ark., to Claude and Pearl Cary Mellard. He was a retired brine field operator, an Army veteran of World War II serving in the Signal Corps in the Phillipines and Japan. He was preceded in death by his parents and by five brothers, Carl Mellard, Paul Mellard, Orvel Mellard, Verchal Mellard, and Noel Mellard.
      Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Jean Hoar Mellard of Alice; one daughter, Sharon Jean Mellard Roberts of Richmond; two sons, Michal John Mellard of Richmond, and Mark Edwin Mellard of Plano; one sister, Ellen (Robert) Griggs of Lufkin; one brother, Norman (Corrie) Mellard of Corpus Christi; four grandsons, Jason, Douglas, and Weston Melland and Kelly Roberts; one granddaughter, Melanie Roberts; three sisters-in-law, Grace Mellard of Plano, Ellen Mellard of Corpus Christi, and Clarice Mellard of Georgetown; and several nieces and nephews.
      Visitation will he Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Holmgreen Mortuary.
      Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday August 21, 2004 at the Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel. Military graveside with honors will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 23, 2004 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
      In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the Alzheimer's Association of South Texas, 2910 Leopard St., Corpus Christi, Texas 78408.
