      OBITUARY - Plain Dealer, Wabash (IN) - Monday, March 17, 2003
      NORTH MANCHESTER--Richard Laurence Gruener, 92, Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, died at 4:50 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2003, at the Peabody Healthcare Center.
      He was born on May 11, 1910, in Chicago, Ill., to Carl Richard and Thora (Mattson) Gruener. He married Margaret Lucille Peters on Dec. 9, 1939. She died on March 9, 1987.
      Formerly of 783 N. East St., he moved to Peabody's in 1986. He was a retired custodian and maintenance worker at the Honeywell Center. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a Meals on Wheels volunteer.
      He was a member of the Wabash Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Men's Full Gospel Fellowship, the Somerset Masonic Lodge and the Wabash Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No.286.
      Surviving are a sister, Virginia Gruener, Niles, Ill.; and three nieces, Sandy Campbell, Wabash, Bobbie Ray, Huntington, and Annabelle Bowman, LaFontaine.
      Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Main Street Chapel. The Rev. John Ritchie will officiate. #Burial will be in Falls Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to the Wabash Presbyterian Church.
