Deceased Name: RUTH JANE FULTON, 78, EX-STORE CLERK, DIES
Ruth Jane Fulton, 78, Ballston Lake and Watertown, former department store clerk, died at 1:18 a.m. Sunday in the House of the Good Samaritan, where she was admitted to the coronary care unit late Saturday.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, with the Rev. Walter E. Giles, associate rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, officiating. Spring burial will be in North Watertown Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Surviving are a son, Robert W., Watertown; two daughters, Sally Anderson, Watertown, and Mary "Kitty" Smith, Black River; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Clinton Compo, Florida; a sister, Dorothy Frank, Watertown, and several nieces and nephews.
A son, Gerald P. Fulton Jr., died June 25, 1948, and a daughter, Barbara Jean Kloek, died Nov. 21, 1989. Two brothers, Roy and Harry Compo, and two sisters, Uneta Sweeny and Delia Crandall, also died previously.
Born in Watertown on Jan. 13, 1912, a daughter of Clinton and Jennie Horr Compo, she was educated in Watertown schools.
She married Gerald P. Fulton Aug. 15, 1931, in Watertown.
Mrs. Fulton was employed as a clerk by several department stores in Watertown, including Grant and Sears. Mr. Fulton, a body shop manager at State Street Body Works, died Oct. 21, 1960.
Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Fulton lived with her daughter Sally in Connecticut. She lived at Ballston Lake for three years until November 1989, when she returned to Watertown after the death of her daughter Barbara.
Mrs. Fulton was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 61.
