      May 3, 2005
      Betty Smithem Lindsay of Wurtsboro, a retired circulation employee of the Times Herald Record in Middletown, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at Horton Medical Center in Middletown. She was 78.
      The daughter of the late Edward L. Wilkinson & Estelle Smithem Wilkinson, she was born November 8, 1926 in Wurtsboro.
      Betty was a member of the Fair Street Church in Kingston; In addition to being an avid horsewoman and golfer, Betty was a member of the Mamakating Historical Society as well as the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post #1266, Mamakating.
      She is survived by her two sons: Daniel Lindsay of Callicoon Center and Pete Lindsay of Wurtsboro; a brother: Edward Wilkinson & his wife Linda of Wurtsboro; a sister: Terrie Hoar of Ellenville; 4 Grandchildren: Danielle, Jennifer, Sean & Arianne; longtime friend: Jim Quinn of the Bronx; Several nieces, nephews and a village full of friends.
      Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 5 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro.
      Her funeral service will be held on Friday, May 6 at 2:00pm at the funeral home.
      Interment of her ashes will be held in the Sylvan Cemetery in Wurtsboro at a later date.
      Memorial contributions may be made to the Fair Street Church, Kingston, NY.

      Edward Wilkinson, Jr.
      Ret. United States Marine, 73
      Edward L. Wilkinson, Jr., a lifelong resident of Wurtsboro has joined his children, Brian and Michele, in Heaven, after passing away on Sunday, April 29, 2007 at his home in Wurtsboro surrounded by his family. He was 73.
      The son of the late Edward L. Wilkinson, Sr. and Estelle Smithem Wilkinson, he was born May 23, 1933 in Wurtsboro.
      Ed served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a devoted friend and lifelong supporter to the Village of Wurtsboro being involved in many civic and fraternal organizations.
      He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Linda Schoonmaker Wilkinson, at home; a sister, Terrie Hoar of Ellenville; and several nieces, nephews, in-laws, and many area friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his children, Brian and Michele; a sister, Betty Lindsay; and a nephew, Kevin Hoar.
      Visitation was Tuesday, May 1 at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. The Mamakating American Legion Post #1266 conducted a service at 7 p.m. and the Wurtsboro Fire Dept. conducted their service at shortly thereafter. Interment of his ashes will be held privately in the Sylvan Cemetery in Wurtsboro at the convenience of the family.
      In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550 or to the Michele Wilkinson Memorial Scholarship, in care of the Wurtsboro Fire Dept. P.O. Box 442, Wurtsboro, NY 12790.
