The d e a t h of Vfilder C. Hoar, which o c c u r r e d s u d d e n l y a t Sackv
i l l e Memorial H o s p i t a l e a r l y Tuesday m o r n i n g , c l a i m e d one of
t h a most h i g h l y r e s p e c t e d c i t i z e n s of S a c k v i l l e , and was a
s e v a r e shock t o r e l a t i v e s and f r i o n d i . His l i f e t i m e , s p e n t in
S a c k v i l l e , was e n t e r p r i s i n g , e n e r g e t i c a n d ' p r og r e s s i v e , a c t i v e lys u p p o r t i n g e v e r y m e a s u r e p e r t a i n in g t o the w e l f a r e of t h e communi
t y . He was a s o n of t h e l a t e Mr. and Mrs. M i l e s Hoar of S a c k v i l l e.
He, always a g o o d - n e i g h b o r and f r i e n d , w i l l be j j r e a t l y m i s s e d . The
s y m p a t h y of t h e e n t i r e community i s e x t e n d e d t o t h e b e r e a v e d f a m i l y,

e n t s . During h i s younger days Mr. Roar was a s p r i n t e r and r u n n er
of wide r e p u t e i n t h e Marl t i m e s , and broke t h e M a r i t i m e r e c o r d for
t h e 440 y>ard s p r i n t on two o c c a s i o n s a t S u s s e x , and a g a i n a t S t.
S t e p h e n . His p r o w e s s as an a t h l e t e a l s o e x t e n d e d to s k a t i n g , and
h i s fame on the s i l v e r b l a d e s i n t h e S a c k v i l l e r i nk w i l l be rememb
e r e d by the o l d e r s p o r t f a n s.
He was an a c t i v e member of the S a c k v i l l e F i r e D e p a r t m e n t and r e t i r ed
I n 1907. He was an Alderman of S a - c k v i l l e for t h i r t e e n y e a r s.
He i s s u r v i v e d by two s o n s , H e r b e r t R. of H a l i f a x , C h a r l e s M. of
D o r c h e s t e r , and t w o d a u g h t e r s , H e l e n , Mrs. S t e r l i n g H a n r i g h t of
O t t a w a and M i l d r e d , Mrs. D o u g l a s Johnson of S p r i n g h l l l ; t h r ee
g r a n d c h i l d r e n , B r i a n and Palmer Hoar of H a l i f a x , and Madeline
Hoar of D o r c h e s t e r ; one s i s t e r b l v s . F. L. C l a r k of P a s a d e n a , Cali
