  [[ Obituary: Union-News (Springfield, MA) - January 24, 2003 Deceased Name: Barbara R. Bottasso 1926 - 2003 SPRINGFIELD - Barbara R. (Cornell) Bottasso, 76, a longtime resident of Springfield and formerly of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, died early Wednesday afternoon at her residence. She was born in Forestdale, RI the daughter of the late Albin R. Sr. and Marion E. (Hoar) Cornell, and was a graduate of Woonsocket High School, class of 1945. Mrs. Bottasso was employed for many years with the former New England Telephone Company. She spent her first six years working as an operator and retired in 1988 after more than eight years in the business office. Mrs. Bottasso is survived by her husband, Raymond J. Bottasso, and leaves one daughter, Kathleen M. Bottasso of Springfield; one son, George W. Bottasso and his wife Alice J. of Feeding Hills; one sister, Edith F. Schwegler and her husband James of Galloway, New Jersey; one brother, Albin R. Cornell, Jr. of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; two grandchildren, Michael W. Bottasso and his wife Joelle M. of Maynard, MA, and Karen J. Bottasso of Watertown, MA; as well as two great-grandchildren, Madelyn "Maddie" Bottasso and Jack Bottasso. Her funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Sampson's Chapel of the Acres, 21 Tinkham Rd., Springfield, with private burial in Hillcrest Park Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 2- 5 p.m. only. Contributions in her memory may be directed to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
