Deceased Name: BARTON D. HOARD
Barton D. Hoard, 70, of Cohasset, Minn., died Saturday, August 9, 2003, in St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.
Bart was born Oct. 26, 1932, in Frederic, Wis., to Malcolm and Harriet (Opsahl) Hoard. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He married Phyllis Tinquist on December 18, 1954. He attended Itasca Community College, St. Cloud State, and graduated from Superior State College. He drove truck to put himself through college. He owned a business in Litchfield for five years. In 1970, he moved to Cohasset and started Bart Hoard Oil Co. Bart was a Gideon for over 30 years and a Kiwanis Club member for 37 years. He was a former board member of Community Bible Chapel and Campus Life, and a past volunteer with Billy Graham and Campus Crusade. He was an avid supporter of school sports and extracurricular events, especially when his family was involved.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving family includes his wife Phyllis; eight children, Roger (Arlyce) of Cohasset, Kathleen (Hass) Hirji-Walji of Crystal, Minn., Mark (Marci) of Butte, Mont., Jeff (Bobbi) of Ft. Worth, Texas, Rick (Bonnie) of Spokane, Wash., Tami (Phil) Amundson of St. Cloud, Michelle (David) Kessler of Grand Rapids, and Steven (Liky) of Philadelphia, Pa.; 34 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barb (Chuck) Morrell of Sparta, N.J., and Arlene (Harold) Larsen of Tacoma, Wash.
VISITATION: 5 until 7 p.m. on Monday, August 11, in the Libbey Funeral Home Chapel, Grand Rapids, Minn. Services 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 12, in Community Bible Chapel, Cohasset . Arrangements by Libbey Funeral Home, 218-326-4000.
