Deceased Name: Howard L. Pillsbury 1927-2005
FARMINGTON -- Howard L. Pillsbury, 77, of Farmington passed away on Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.
He was born in Cornish on April 8, 1927, the son of George and Eva (Hoar) Pillsbury. He was educated in the schools of Rangeley. He served in the Army during World War II, receiving the Army of Occupation medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He married the former Annie Williams on Dec. 25, 1954, in Stratton. He was employed as a mechanic and truck driver for D.C. Morton in Rangeley, then truck driver and mechanic for Sonny Fotter in Stratton. He then worked for White Front Garage in Stratton as a mechanic, then on to Morton Motors in Farmington as a mechanic for many years. He then became self-employed, owning and operating Midway Auto Repair in Wilton for many years, retiring in 1992.
Howard enjoyed building, attending and supporting stock car racing in Oxford and Unity. He also enjoyed Nascar. He liked woodworking, going camping and his dogs.
Besides his wife of 50 years, Annie of Farmington, he is survived by two sons, Raymond Pillsbury and wife, Kim, of Farmington and John Pillsbury and wife, Sherry, of Litchfield; four grandchildren, Nichole, Michelle, Jeremy and Thomas; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, at Adams Funeral Home, 108 Court St., Farmington, with the Rev. John Pillsbury officiating. A spring burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Farmington.
