To the best of my recollection, Uncle John came to Boston around 1950-1951 when I was about 9-10 years old. He lived with us for a while, I used to make his lunch for him to take to work the next day. On Fridays when he got paid, he & I would go clothes shopping. He didn't have hardly anything and would try to buy at least a shirt or a pair of pants each payday.
I remember all of this because even though I was just a child, I found it amusing that he had to shop in the 'kids' department for shoes & clothing to get a decent fit. At any rate that explains where he was when your husband was growing up. In later years, Joey came to Boston, then Clyde, and I think Kenneth. Joey & Clyde stayed, but think Kenneth went back to Maine. At the time, I guessed he came to Boston for 'work' to support his large family, but as an adult am now thinking there must have been a separation or divorce.
