Lena May (Coleman) Hoard, 92, o f Meredith went to be with the Lord on Dec. 31, 2003 in Covenant Medical Center in Saginaw. She was surrounded by all of her beloved children and several grand and Great-grandchildren. She was born May 30, 1911 in Breckenridge, daughter of Roy Watson Coleman and Frances Leola Youry. She spent her younger years in Gratiot County. She married Archie Merrill Hoard on Oct. 27, 1928 in Wheeler in Gratiot County. They moved around to different areas and then settled in Meredith, Michigan. She was a member of the Skeels Baptist Church and attended every Sunday until it became to hard for her to get around. She then listened to the service on the Gladwin Radio Station. Lena was a participant in the First Lady Contest in the Gladwin County Centennial in Aug. 1975 and attended the Night Shirt Ball at the Queens Hall on Sept. 6, 1975 and won fourth runner up. She was very proud of this. She had a very sharp memory. She has 141 grandchildren, Great-grandchildren, and Great-great-grandchildren, and she could name each and tell you their birth dates.She was a great believer of doing the best you can do with what you have. Also, you can do anything if you set your mind to it.She will be missed by all of her family, four daughters, Carolyn Cowell, Norma Sharp, Lillian Leposky and husband John, all of Harrison, Michigan and Sheryle Hensley and husband Donald Sr. of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Three sons, Larry Hoard and wife Kay, Jerry Hoard and fiancee Janet Harte of Bath, Michigan and Sirwell Hoard and wife Dorothy of Hermann, Missouri. She waspreceded in death by a daughter Marlene in 1940, her husband Archie in 1976 and a son Roger in 1996. Funeral services were held Jan. 3, 2004 at Halls Funeral Home, Gladwin with Rev. George Coon officiating. Grave side services were held in Pleasant Plains Cemetery in Harrison, Michigan.
