      Maine Sunday Telegram (Portland, ME) - January 10, 1999
      Deceased Name: LESTER RAYMOND STEARNS
      Lester Raymond Stearns, 80, died Friday at his home after a short illness.
      He was born in Lovell, a son of Fred S. and Daisy Horr Stearns.
      He married Anna Lilie Hill on Nov. 6, 1954.
      Mr. Stearns was an Army veteran of World War II.
      For 25 years, along with his wife, he owned and operated a dairy farm in Unity.
      He was a charter member of the Maine Christmas Tree Association. He was past president of the Waldo County Extension and past treasurer of Waldo County D.H.I.A. He was also past chairman of the Agway Farm Committee.
      Mr. Stearns was a member of the Boy Scout Organizational Committee in Searsmont.
      He attended the Thorndike Congregational Church.
      He retired to Tenants Harbor in 1979, where he enjoyed fishing and boating.
      Surviving are his wife, Anna Lilie Hill Stearns of Tenants Harbor; a daughter, Mrs. Duanne (Patricia) Schmidt of Buckland; a son, Peter of North Haven; three grandchildren, Devin, Darren and Alina.
      There will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Davis Funeral Home, 22 Knox St., Thomaston, with the Rev. Richard Reynolds of Swansville officiating. A reception will follow at the funeral home dining room. Burial will be in the spring.
