      FILLMORE, MYRTLE L. - Myrtle Fillmore passed away on February 15, 20 02 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. She was in her ninety-first year. Bo rn in Norton and raised in Minto, she was a daughter of the late James a nd Sarah Jane (Bartlett) Sproul. She matriculated from Sussex High Scho ol and went on to graduate from Haverhill School of Nursing in Massachuset ts in 1931. Prior to her marriage to Herbert Carter Fillmore of Moncton, s he nursed in Minto and Moncton. Shortly after their marriage they mov ed to Bathurst. While in Bathurst, she was very active in community affair s. Most notably St. Luke's Presbyterian Church, the Canadian Red Cross, t he Home & School Association, the Community Concert Series, and the Ord er of the Eastern Star. Myrtle moved to Fredericton in the early fifties a nd became one of the first volunteer drivers for the Meals on Wheels organ ization. She was an active member of the Sir Howard Douglas lODE. She w as a past matron of Celestial Chapter No.3 and a past Grand Matron of N ew Brunswick Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and a member of St. A ndrews Presbyterian Church. Myrtle maintained a winter residence in Arizo na for several winters, where she made many friends and enjoyed a membersh ip in the local Lioness Club. She was predeceased by her parents; her husb and; one brother Wesley (Hilda) Sproul; sisters Mildred (Jim) Bartlett, Ir ene (Don) Haines; daughter-in-law Anne Fillmore and granddaughter Kathy. S he is survived by her son Dr. Herb Fillmore; her daughter Marilyn (Davi d) Hoax; grandaughters Carolyn (Mike) McKinley, Dr. Stephanie Hoar (fian ce Brent Stephens); grandson Jeff (Angela) their children Evan and Hayle y; several nieces and nephews as well as many dear friends. The family wi ll receive friends at Bishop' s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road, Frederict on on Wednesday evening from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. An Eastern Star service wi ll be held at Bishop's Funeral Home on Thursday February 21, 2002 at 2: 00 pm with a reception immediately following. Interment will take pla ce in Riverbank, Norton at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donatio ns to your charity of choice will be most appreciated.
