      Of Galesburg, MI
      Passed away Sunday morning, April 13, 2008. She was born June 4, 1926 in Grand Rapids, MI the daughter of Arthur and Thyra (Hoard) McEvers. Wioma was raised in Waterford, MI. She later moved to Plainwell in 1960 with her first husband, K. Charles Oakes and their four children. She was a lifelong volunteer for various organizations including her children's schools; Boys and Girl Scouts; and later in life for Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes, and the Comstock Community Center. Wioma loved to travel and the outdoors; as well as all her family and friends. She married her second husband, Richard Boss in 1975, and enjoyed his children and grandchildren. She is survived by three children, Kenrick (Diane) Oakes, Lawrence Oakes (Elizabeth Poe), Peggy (Jeff) Scott; Eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Gleason, Susan Brown; a brother, Chuck McEvers; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, William Oakes; a granddaughter; and two brothers and a sister. A memorial service to celebrate Wioma's life will be held 11:00 AM Friday at the Galesburg Congregational United Church of Christ, 22 South Church St. with Rev. Whitney Brown officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek St. Private interment will be at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Shepherds Center, Comstock Community Center, or the Galesburg Congregational United Church of Christ. www.langelands.com
