      Deceased Name: Obituary Daniel P. Dacey Jr., 82, of W. Roxbury, engineer
      Daniel Patrick Dacey Jr. of West Roxbury, a former engineer, died Sunday at Endicott Manor in Dedham after a lengthy illness. He was 82.
      Born in Boston, Mr. Dacey attended Boston Latin School, and graduated from Dartmouth College in 1941.
      He was former engineer for New England Telephone Co. for 35 years. He retired in 1985.
      He played football and track in high school, and was inducted into the Boston Latin School Varsity Club Hall of Fame in 1988.
      The Associated Press gave Mr. Dacey honorable mention to the All-American Football Team in 1940. He played in the legendary Dartmouth-Cornell 5th Down Game.
      Mr. Dacey was an Army veteran and served as an infantry captain in the Philippines during World War II. He served again in the Korean War.
      He was an avid golfer and a member of the Norfolk Golf Club for more than 30 years.
      Mr. Dacey is survived by his wife, Margaret (Hoar); his son, Daniel P. of West Roxbury; three sisters, Peggy Dacey and Mary Drake, both of West Roxbury, and Anna Halloran of Norwood; and three grandchildren.
      A funeral Mass was celebrated yesterday at the Holy Name Church, West Roxbury.
      Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
