      Gerald (Gerry) J. Danaher
      Foster Wheeler retiree
      Gerald (Gerry) J. Danaher, 89, of 313 Washington St. in Wayland, peacefully passed away at his home March 12, 2003. He was born in Hornell on Oct. 23, 1913. He was the son of William and Anna (Nugent) Danaher. When he was very young, Gerry moved with his family to the Naples area. He lived there most all of his life until he moved to the Wayland area in 1987. Gerry and Mary Wright were married on April 29, 1937 at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Wayland. Mary passed away in 1983 after spending 46 years of marriage with Gerry. Gerry moved to Wayland in 1987 and entered into a loving marriage with Melba (Kuhn) Henchen on April 25, 1987 at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church. Together they have spent 15 happy years together. Gerry's entire employment career was spent as a welder at the Foster Wheeler Energy Corporation in Dansville. He retired from Foster Wheeler on Aug. 19, 1978. Gerry enjoyed many years as a Little League Manager in the Naples Little League system. He was also a past president of the Naples German Club and was often heard saying "I'm the only Irishman in a German Club." He was an avid fisherman and loved to spend time tending to the flowers in his garden. He also spent a lot of time with his faithful companion Rusty. Rusty is a 12-year-old Dachshund. Gerry was a member of the Naples Fire Department and a communicant of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Wayland. Gerry was predeceased by both of his parents and his first wife Mary (Wright) Danaher in 1983. He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Melba (Kuhn,Henchen) Danaher of Wayland; his two sons, David Danaher of Rochester and William (Joan) Danaher of Canandaigua; his daughter Pat (Don) Tanner of Arcade; his stepchildren, Donald (Irene) Henchen of Dansville, Mary Kay Horr of Dansville, Carol (Ron) Houck of Chicago, Charles "Buddy" Henchen of Wayland, Rick Henchen of Wayland, Susan Vaughn of Tennessee, Bill (Debby) Henchen of Wayland; numerous grandchildren and several great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, RoseMary Danaher of Hornell, Ann Wright of Dansville, Annie Wright of Holley, Helen Wright of Wayland and Delores Wright of Springwater; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends called Friday at the St. George Stanton Funeral Home, 109 W. Naples St. in Wayland. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Steve Kraus officiating. Interment, Roseridge Cemetery in Naples.
