Obituary: Bernard Alvin Horner
Bernard Alvin Horner, 67, of 132 1/2 East Maiden Street, Washington, died in his home at 1:23 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 1985. He had been ill since September.
Born in Washington, October 30, 1917, he was a son of Melvin and Bernice Sims Horner.
He was a member of the North Buffalo United Presybterian Church, Cement Masons Local No. 526 of Pittsburgh and Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 687.
In 1942 he married Mary Thompson, who died in 1948.
On July 10, 1953, he married Gertrude Bolen, who died March 26, 1978.
On September 14, 1982, he married Hannah Hoffman Novak, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Anthony (Mary Jane) Horr of Washington R.D. 5; 10 stepchildren, Donald Mangold of Lancaster, Leo Mangold of Washington, DC, David Mangold of Virginia, Martha Arthurholt of Overbrook, Okla., Mrs. Thomas (Pauline) Touchberry of Georgia, Mrs. Dale (June) Miller of Washington, Charles Novak Jr. of Herndon, Va., Mrs. Francis (Pamela) Andrew and Michael Novak, both of Belle Vernon R.D. 3, and Mrs. Ron (Debbie) Bailey of Forest, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Albert (Thelma) Taylor of Claysville R.D. 3, and one grandchild, 28 step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. A step-son, Roy Francis Mangold, a step-great granddaughter and a brother Ellis M. Horner preceded him in death.
