Esther Jester, 89, Sarasota, died Oct. 1, 2001.
She was born Aug. 7, 1912, in New York City and came to Sarasota in 1977 from Somers, N.Y. She was a beautician who owned and operated a beauty salon. She was vice president and secretary of the Ladies Auxiliary of Lake Lincolndale in New York and a volunteer for the Candlelight Dinners at Senior Friendship Center in Sarasota.
Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Horr of Sarasota; a sister, Ann Gimple of North Miami Beach; a brother, Saul Lopatine of Long Island, N.Y.; three grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; four stepgreat- grandchildren; and two step- great-great-granddaughters.
Services will be later. National Cremation Society, Sarasota chapter, is in charge.

Charles H. Jester, 87, Sarasota, died April 19, 1996.
He was born Aug. 10, 1908, in New York, and came to Sarasota 19 years ago from Lincolndale, N.Y. He was a policeman for the city of New York for 20 years. A life member Mason, he was was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge 588 in New York and was a volunteer at the Senior Friendship Center and Candle Light Dinners.
Survivors include his wife, Esther; a daughter, Cynthia H. Horr of Sarasota; a brother, Joseph Hanes of New York; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be announced. National Cremation Society, Sarasota chapter, is in charge.
