      Deceased Name: George Peter Serena
      BRAINTREE - George Peter Serena of Palm Harbor, FL and Yarmouth, MA formerly of Braintree, passed away peacefully at his home in Florida on Sunday, November 8, 2009, age 84.
      Born April 30, 1925 in Boston's North End to the late Peter A. and Filomena Berarducci Serena. George was happily married for 58 years to his beloved wife, Mildred (Hoar) Serena. He was loving father to Prajapati Sakata, Patricia Serena and Martin Joyce Jr., Mariellen Serena, Peter and Lee Serena, Karen and Joseph Neal, Nancy Serena and Robert Adams, Elizabeth Serena Sanford and Scott Sanford. Loving grandfather to: Matthew and Michael Joyce; Anthony Serena, Alesha Neal, William, Alex and Peter Sanford. Brother to Lelia Truant of Needham, MA, and Maria and Dr. Raymond Timmerman of Fort Thomas, KY.
      He proudly served his country during WWII aboard the naval ship the USS Enoree. He had a distinguished 39 year career with General Electric as an Engine Administrator, furthering aeronautical engineering designing the fuel cell for the Gemini spacecraft, and the T-700 engine for the Black Hawk helicopter.
      Memorial was at EAST WEYMOUTH, McDonald Funeral Home, corner Middle and Charles Sts, Tuesday 11/17 and Wednesday 11/18, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church, So. Yarmouth; Interment at Bourne National Cemetery at 1:45 p.m.
