She was born in Dayton, Ohio on May 11, 1943 to the late Donald and Elnore Skiles and raised in Vandalia, Ohio. She lived in Dayton until 1977 when she married James R. Hoar and relocated to Florida with her family. In 1981, Austin, Texas became her permanent home.
She is preceded in death by her brother Donald Skiles, Jr.

Gage of Austin, Texas; two sons-in-law, William Floyd and Dr. Todd Gage; two grandchildren, Sierra & Michael Floyd and a sister, Bonnie Funderburg of Vandalia, OH.
