Name: Leonard Slew Sex: M Birth: in Beverly, Mass. Death: 10 AUG 1703 in Purpooduck, Me. Killed By Indians Residence: Beverly, Purpooduck, Salem (Beverly), Purpooduck HIST: Leonard (1), in 1678 had not long since married Tabitha Hoar (William) of Beverly. A Purpooduck settler under Danforth, where in 1683 Richard Seacomb sold to Edwards and Walter 100 acres by Lawrence Davis', except 12 acres of L. S.'s. In the 2d
war he returned to Salem and there in July 1700 took oath that he sold Purpooduck meadow and marsh to Margery Haines for a heifer. Reported killed at Purpooduck, with wife and three children 10 Aug. 1703, but Miss Coleman identifies "___ Slew
from Casco" in Canada 1710 as Leonard. Lists 227, 39, 99, p. 92. A son Leonard who may not have returned to Purpooduck with his father's family, married Abigail Johnson 23 Nov. 1703 in Beverly where in 1744 he quit claim half his father's 12
acres, having sold the other half to James Noble. One Mary S. married Joshua Beans in Salem in 1701.

Thomas and Hannah moved to Falmouth, Maine in 1682, where in 1683 he and John Edwards bought 100 acres of land from Richard Seacomb and 12 acres from Leonard Slew. This land in Falmouth was on the Purpooduck side of the river in Casco Bay.
