      Deceased Name: Renate M. VanHorne
      Renate M. VanHorne, 64, of 213 S. Pine Street, Lewistown, died Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at Lewistown Hospital.
      Born December 25, 1939 in Ansbach, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Hans Reider and Wilhelmine of Ansbach, Germany. She was the wife of Larry "Butch" VanHorne, whom she married in 1966.
      Renate worked at Diana Clothing Store and Scotty Fashions. She was a member of City Fire Company Auxiliary.
      Surviving are her children, Susanne Hoar of State College, PA, and Kim Lower of Liverpool, PA; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sabina Reider of Germany and a brother, Hans Reider of Germany. She was preceded in death by a sister, Gertrude.
      Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 10th at 10 a.m., from Barr Funeral Home, Inc., 120 Logan Street, Lewistown, with Jim Young, L.S., officiating. Viewing will be on Friday from 9 a.m. until time of services, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery. www.pennlive.com/obits

      LEWISTOWN - Larry E. "Butch" VanHorne, 74, of South Pine Street, Lewistown, died Friday, March 15, 2013, at M.S. Hershey Medical Center.
      He was born on Jan. 19, 1939, in Lewistown, a son of the late Ira Blaine and Dorothy Fleming VanHorne. Butch is survived by his wife, Deborah Summers Miller VanHorne, whom he married in 2006.
      Butch is survived by: two daughters, Susanne Hoar, of State College, and Kim Lower and husband, Jim, of Liverpool; stepchildren, John Miller Jr., of Reedsville, Jodi Miller, of Burnham, and Leslie Miller, of Belleville; a sister, Helen Weyandt, of Olympia, Wash.; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
      He was preceded in death by: his first wife, Renate VanHorne, on Dec. 8, 2004; two brothers, Blaine "Dick" VanHorne, and Donald VanHorne; and sister, Sandra Powell.
      He served in the U.S. Army and the Military Police. He was a member of the VFW Post 7011 Lewistown, Yeagertown Fire Company and the City Fire Company.
      Butch was employed at the Lewistown YMCA and later at the Standard Steel, retiring after 39 years.
      Butch enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their activities, helping at the VFW and walking his dogs.
      A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, at the Barr Funeral Home, Inc., 120 Logan St., with the Rev. Douglas Sherlock officiating. Interment will be in Mount Rock Cemetery with military services by VFW Post 7011.
