  [[Her dad's obituary: Louis J. Wischerth 1924 - 2007 WEST SPRINGFIELD - Louis J. Wischerth died at his home in West Springfield on Thursday, September 20, 2007. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 18, 1924 and was the son of William and Marie (Brisbois) Wischerth. He and his family moved to Massachusetts in the 1930's when his father, who worked for Spalding's was transferred to their Chicopee facility. He lived in Chicopee until 1985 when he moved to West Springfield to live with his wife Frances Bigda. Mr. Wischerth graduated from Chicopee High School in 1942 and served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He graduated from American International College in 1950 and subsequently earned a master's degree at Westfield State College. He was a teacher and an administrator in the Chicopee Public Schools for 31 years retiring in 1989. Louis is survived by his son William and his wife Annie of Barnet, Vermont, his daughter Susn Hoar and her husband John and their sons Michael and Matthew of Pembroke, his daughter Patricia Knowles and her husband Mark and their son Luke of Waterboro, Maine, and JoAnn Wisniewski and her husband Jon of Milford, New Hampshire. In addition to his wife, Louis leaves her daughter Carolyn Dulchinos and her husband Donald of Boulder, Colorado and their children Zoe and Theodore as well as her son Andrew Bigda and his wife Mary Ann of Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his brother William and his wife Fay of Jacksonville, Florida, his sister Marie Walker of Havre de Grace, Maryland, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Until his recent illness, Mr. Wischerth was an active volunteer for Rachel's Table and found the work especially rewarding. He enjoyed sports, both as a participant and as a spectator and was an avid golfer, skier, and tennis player. He belonged to the Amherst Golf Club, the Ludlow Tennis-Club, and the 70+ Ski Club. His wake will be held at Corridan Funeral Home on Springfield Street in Chicopee on September 24, 2007 from 4 to 8 pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made in his memory to the Springfield Rescue Mission, Rachel's Table, or the Baystate Hospice Program. Published in The Republican on 9/23/2007.
