Mary Melva Miller was born and raised in California. Married in 1933. Her daughter Julia Ann was born in Rochester, New York Feb 5, 1934. Married Fred Hoar in Dutch Flat, Placer County, 1938, he subsequently adopted Julia and sealed her birth record. Spent most of her life in Bakersfield (Oildale), CA, then moved to San Francisco, where she lived with her daughter before moving to San Jose. She moved into assisted living in 1990 and died at Westgate Convalescent Center, San Jose, CA. Survivors include her grandchildren Cynthia and Deirdre Brooke of Vancouver, BC and Guy Brooke of Nanaimo, BC, Canada and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Johnston and Frederick Hoar, her daughter Julia (Johnston nee Hoar) Brooke and her grandson Julian Brooke, Prince Rupert, BC, Canada .
Leland J. Blalock sold his plot to Aunt Melva, she was cremated and shares the plaque with her sister Patricia A. Blalock. She detested her married name so the stone is inscribed Mary Melva Miller 1912-2002.Melva married Charles Johnston. [Group Sheet]
