Dwight Horr,66 died at 8:30 a.m., Friday at his home on South Main Street, Mechanicsburg. He had been ill for some time with a heart ailment, and had spent intervals in the last few months at Mt. Carmel hospital in Columbus. He was a native of Mechanicsburg and for 40 years was manager of the Mechanicsburg Lumber Company.
Surviving besides his widow, Linda are two sisters, Mrs Lucy Gannon and Mrs. Laura Dickey, Mechanicsburg; and two brothers, Percy Horr, Urbana, and Bert Horr, Leesburg, Ohio.
Services will be held Sunday at 3:00pm., From the residence. Rev. E.H.Dickey, assisted by Rev. Paul I. Wachs, will officiate. Davis and Byers will have charge of the services and interment will be made in the mausoleum at Maplegrove Cemetery.

Burial services were held at 3p.m. Sunday for Dwight Horr, 66, who died Friday at 8:30 in his home on South Main street, Mechanicsburg, from a heart ailment. His death was not entirely unexpected.
Mr. Horr had been manager of the Mechanicsburg Lumber Co. for more than 40 years and had resigned only a few weeks ago as he and Mrs. Horr were planning a trip to Florida in the interest of his health. He was a life-long resident of Mechanicsburg, the son of Mr. And Mrs. Pierce Horr. In addition to his widow, Mrs. Mrs. Linda Kent Horr, two brothers, Percy Horr, Urbana, and Bert Horr, Leesburg; and two sisters, Mrs. F. E. Gannon and Mrs. Harry Dickey Mechanicsburg, survive.
Burial services were conducted by the Rev. Paul I. Wachs, pastor of the Trinity Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg. Burial was made in the mausoleum at Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg. Mr. Horr was affiliated with Masonic Lodge, Masonic Chapter, The Knights Templar and the Modern Woodman Lodge.

WILLIAM HORR, retired farmer; P. O. Mechanisburg; a prominent citizen and early settler, was born in Lewis Co., N. Y., in 1812, and is the son of Jacob and Hannah (Pierce) Horr, both natives of Massachusetts and early emigrants to York State; Jacob was a farmer by occupation, and became a resident of this county in June, 1838, and, soon after, a resident of Wyandot Co., where his death occurred Dec. 26, 1847; the death of his wife occurred Nov. 24, 1839, in the State of Illinois, where she had gone on a visit; he had a family of eight sons and one daughter, only three of whom still survive. Our subject was the seventh child of the family, and was early taught the art and dignity of farming; be lived in his native State till 1838, when he immigrated to Ohio, locating within sight of his present place, to which he moved-twenty-six years ago. The pursuit of agriculture has been his occupation, and in it he has been successful. He finds his political creed in the Republican party, and religious in the M. P. Church. He has at different times been prominently identified with the county and township offices, holding the positions of County Commissioner, Land Appraiser, and several times Township Assessor. The duties of these offices he has discharged with strict integrity and fidelity. He married Mary Coan [correct spelling is "Cone", not "Coan" ], of New York, March 11, 1835 ; five sons and three daughters have been the issue of this union, two of whom have died, one in infancy, and the other, a son, died in the late civil war from the effects of a wound received in the battle at Port Republic, Va.; he lived just one month, dying at Washington City.

If this is true then Jacob was the first child of Robert and Sarah's to leave Massachusetts. It is said that brothers Warren and Robert with Jacob moved there about the same time.

Jacob moved to Ohio before 1818.
