The 1898 photos of Ida and Gertrud show 3 additional sisters who appear to be older than Ida and Gertrud. I can't find their birth records on the LDS film as follows: Volume 98-100, Film number 1335000, Digital Folder Number 004110886, Image number 00702.

Johann Heinrich Friedrich Rudold Brode was born 24 Jan 1845 in Scholflies, Germany, which is now Gorzow, Province of Lubuskie, Poland. It is a city in western Poland on the Warta River. Before 1945, Gorzow was part of Germany and was located in the Neumark region of Brandenburg.

1871, January. Campaign in the North. General Louis L. C. Faidherbe, with mixed success, had opposed German efforts to pacify northern France in the Battle of the Hallue (December 23). He fought another drawn battle with General August Karl von Goeben at Bapaume. (January 2-3). **** Battle of St.-Quentin, however, he was severely defeated by Goeben (January 19). Faidherbe withdrew in good order and repulsed German pursuit. He immediately prepared to renew his offensive, adding to the alarm of the Germans, now seriously overextended by the unexpectedly effective French resistance in all of the outlying provinces.
