IDEAS - 3/30/2001: LOREN WHETON LINCOLN - is most likely made of surnames - Loring and Wheton/Whedon/Weedon/Wheaton.
Loring and Wheton and Lincoln families intermarried in Hull, Hingham and Taunton, MA. There were a number of JONATHANs in Wheton and Lincoln generations. There was a LORENE (as in Milton Lorene Lincoln) in Wheton line (where it was used for a female). I haven't a clue about FOTHON either by this spelling or other phonetic variations.

Land Records of Adams, MA- signers of deeds whose wifes are given:
    Northrop, Stephen and Lydia 1780.

Notes from John Northrup (the current keeper of Northrup family history) of Riverside, CA to xxx in a letter dated 2 March 1999:
"The references to Stephen say that he came to the Lanesboro area from western CT, but I think that this is a broad brush error and he came from the area of Preston, CT."

"Stephen's sister, Mary, and her husband, Uzziel Durham, were the first of the family to arrive in the Lanesboro area and Stephen subsequently bought some land from them. When Stephen arrived in the area he set about building himself a home, but the wolves were bugging him so one of his first tasks was to build a box to sleep in to avoid the critters. Sounds like he was a very practical person."

"Thomas subsequently moved to the area and both Stephen and Thomas served in the Revolution from there. Joseph enlisted from Preston, CT but after his service he also moved to Lanesboro area before moving on down to Franklin-Otsego area of New York."
