Delong-Hoar Rites in Oregon. On Friday evening May [sic] 19 at 7:30 o'clock, Miss Hilda Ellen Hoar, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel D. Hoar of Levering was married to Lawrence Merton DeLong of Portland, Ore. The wedding was held in the small chapel of the First Methodist church of Portland with Rev. Lawrence Everette Nye officiating. The couple preferred a small wedding, and guests consisted only of Miss Violet Hoar, members of Mr. DeLongs family and a few friends. The bride wore a white suit of pressed pique, trimed with rows of lace daisies, with a small flower trimmed white straw hat. She wore a corsage of white gardenias. Mr. DeLong is employed as a structural engineer by the bureau of Buldings in the city of Portland. Mrs. DeLong will continue her employment as clerk typist in the Portland branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. Mrs. DeLong is well known in Levering where she spent her entire girlhood. Her college training was chiefly at the Marquette, Mich. college. Three years ago she went to Oregon.

S. D. Hoar of Levering Dies. Samuel D. Hoar died at his home in Levering Tuesday afternoon. He was born at the Hoar farm on January 9, 1893. He lived his entire life in and near Levering. During his early years he operated what was known as the Levering Stave Mill, and also engaged in lumbering. The latter years were spent in farming. Surviving sre his wife Elsie, two daughters, Mrs. Lester Kalbfleisch (Winona) of Levering, and Hilda DeLong (Hilda) of Portland, Ore., besides a brother Levi of Levering, a sister Mrs. Violet Ammon of Portland, Ore., and two granddaughters Judy and Suzanne Kalbfleisch of Levering. The body will lie in state at the Nordman Funeral Home until Thursday morning. It will then be taken to the residence at Levering and will remain there until it is removed to the Levering church Friday noon for the service Friday afternoon. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Methodist Church of Levering. Burial will be in the Carp Lake Cemetery.

Mrs. Hoar Rites Friday July 2, 1976. Funeral services for Elsie A. Hoar, 83, of Levering, will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Nordman Funeral Home in Cheboygan. Interment will be in the Carp Lake Township Cemetery. Mrs. Hoar died Tuesday evening at Lockwood-McDonald Hospital. She was born Elsie A. Williams on May 27, 1893 in Washington, Ind. She moved with her family to Ohio and Illinois before coming to the Levering area in 1903. She has lived there ever since. On April 1, 1913, she was married to Samuel Hoar in Levering. He preceded her in death in 1956. Mrs. Hoar was an active member of the Emmet County Farm Bureau and in recent years was an active member of the Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodge. Survivors include two daughters; Mrs. (Lester) Beatrice Kalbfleisch, Mrs. John (Hilda) VanLoh of Salem, Oregon; two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren; a niece and several nephews. Pallbearers were: Walter Beach, Raymond Kalbfleisch, Alva Hoar, Ralph and Dale Williams, Torbin Brun, Judy Kalbfleisch's husband.
