"1) Nathaniel Foote, b. about 1593 ( came from Shalford in Colchester, England, to Watertown, MA, before 1633); m. in England about 1615, Elizabeth Deming, sister of John Deming who was one of the first settlers of Wethersfield. She was b. about 1595. He died about 1644, age 51. She m. (2) about 1646, Thomas Welles. He was a magistrate, afterwards Governor of the Colony. He died ___. She d. July 28, 1683.

His children, probably all except the last one, born in England. He is buried in the ancient burying ground in the rear of the meeting house. Nathaniel left no will. His wife, 2 sons and 5 daughters survived him.

Child (1) Hannah Dickinson, b. Dec. 6, 1648; m. (1)Sept. 23, 1660 Samuel Gilet of Hadley. He was lost at "Falls Fight", May 19, 1676; (2) May 15, 1677 Stephen Jennings of Hadley. She was captured by the Indians Sept. 19 1677, and carried to Canada. She returned in 1678.....(Lots of information about Indian massacres.)

Robert Foote of Shalford, Essex, yeoman, 27 January 1608, proved 15 Februay 1608. To the poor in the parish twenty shillings. To the poor in Wethersfield (CT?) twenty shillings. To my well beloved wife Joan, during her natural life, all such yearly rent as to me is reserved out of my lease of certain tenements which I hold for divers years yet enduring by the grant of Sir Robert Chester knight and lying and being in the town of Royston, the yearly rent whereof to me reserved is at this present eight pounds. I give her also one annuity of four pounds to be paid during her natural life by my son Robert. To my son James fifty pounds. To son Daniel forty pounds at four and twenty. The same each so sons Nathaniel, Francis and Joshua at like ages. To daughter Elizabeth Foote forty pounds at day of marriage or at age thirty. To son Joseph my lease and term of years in a certain hopground called Plomley which I hold by lease from Mr. Josyas Clarke and ___ his wife. Other gifts to him. Certain household stuff to wife. Elizabeth Ormes my maid servant. To ___ Tibbet, the wife of William Tibbet, five shillings in recompence of her pains she hath taken with me.
